The Southern Illinois region is known as "Little Egypt" because of its proximity to the great Mississippi River and because of its fertile land! The region is full of farms, orchards, and groves of all sorts and hub of entertainment. Carbondale, plays host to one of the oldest farmers markets in the mid-west and is certainly one of the largest in the region! It is held on Saturdays in the Murdale Shopping Center area of Carbondale. So, if you are into cooking, you will love all of the heirlooms, unique varietals, and cottage industry products found at this terrific market. (Available April-November).

- Winter weather and the road conditions they create cannot be predicted. There are many factors involved, like the duration and severity of the weather, the vehicle being driven (all-wheel, 4-wheel drive, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive) and the expertise of the driver in bad weather and on rural roads, and these can all play a significant role. Highway 127 and Pomona Road are plowed by the county. Godwin Road and both driveways are flat, but are not plowed. Because of these things, in the event of significant winter weather we will be happy to credit your payment toward a booking within 1 year of the original one. No refund or partial refund will be given if the original reservation is kept.
- Cell Coverage: The predominant carrier for the region is Verizon. Depending on your carrier, cell coverage may be spotty. Please check coverage maps with your carrier to verify coverage if you have a question. A landline phone is available in the cabin with free calling in the continental US.
- Internet: For a rural location, ours is one of the best around. However, it is satellite internet. High usage can result in throttling. For this reason it cannot be used for streaming, gaming, or Zoom meetings. Please note, overage charges may apply with heavy usage.
